NGC 6951 (AKA NGC 6952) is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation of Cepheus.
It is located 3 degrees NNE of the star θ Cephei; despite its small apparent size, it is a beautiful spiral galaxy, in which the bar structure that crosses the nucleus is clearly visible, which appears small in size. A telescope with at least 200-220mm aperture is needed to also appreciate the structure of the arms; its real dimensions are slightly smaller than those of our Milky Way, from which it is just under 60 million light-years away.
